Praise

I want more of this.
That's the simplest thing I can say about this book.
The characters, settings, and story were all brilliantly done. I absolutely loved the blend of sci-fi and fantasy in it.
For some reason, I was reminded of Game of Thrones. Perhaps it was that each chapter had a focused main character or the overall plot just made me think of it. Either way, I'd like to think of this as the Game of Thrones of the sci-fi world.

I’m utterly impressed by the creativity and commitment it takes to create a fantasy of this caliber. World building that’s easy for the reader to understand but complex enough to be interesting with all its laws, history, and details—it’s one of the many things I enjoyed about this story.

– Gillian Dowell

while I wouldn't put it in the same category as I would a Booker Prize novel (thankfully, as I've yet to be impressed with their selections), I would put it in the same category as sci-fi fantasy novels of the 20th century, such as Aasimov (Foundation, Robots), A C Clarke, McCaffrey (Dragonriders), Herbert (Dune), etc... I honestly can't wait for the 2nd book of this series to come out.
